What is a Roulade?

What is a Roulade? The term roulade stems from the French word "rouler" or to roll.  At the end of the day, a roulade is just a fancy way of stuffing meat or pastry by rolling the filling inside.  Roulades can come in many forms, both sweet and savory.  The savory versions tend to be made with meats filled with vegetables, cheese, seasonings, and sauces. A Swiss Roll, Yule Log, and Jelly Roll are all examples of sweet dessert/pastry roulades. Why do we love them?
